Outside of his professional pursuits, Garret Gaw has a range of hobbies and interests from sailing to homebrewing to crafting his own pottery.
Garret Gaw is known professionally for his work in software development. However, outside of his career, he has a range of hobbies that make him well-rounded.
Sailing
For Garret Gaw, sailing is a way to disconnect and find peace amidst the chaos of everyday life. He often sails the waters of Lake St. Clair with his wife, twin boys, and their family dog. Lake St. Clair hosts one of the largest sport fisheries in the entire world, and Garret loves to fish in its waters.
Of course, for Garret, it isn’t enough to just be good at sailing. He has ambitions, and one of those is to sail around the whole world. Water sports are both a relaxing way to unwind and an outlet for Gaw’s ambitious spirit.
Homebrewing
For Garret, his journey into homebrewing is an art as well as a science. In his own home brewery, he loves to experiment with each batch of craft beer, trying to find the perfect blend of flavor and aroma. Garret loves every part of the process, from selecting hops and grains to perfecting the fermentation process.
For Garret, homebrewing is as much for the community it creates as it is for the craft itself. He loves to share his makings with friends and family while hosting a beer tasting session. Once again, he shows his commitment to excellence in the pursuit of the perfect homebrew.
Pottery
When in search of some alone time, Garret Gaw finds solace in the potter studio. He finds molding the clay in his hands to be a grounding experience. As much as Garret loves the final outcome, pottery making is a meditative practice.
Whether it’s working the pottery wheel or shaping clay by hand, Garret produces a range of crafts. His favorite pieces to make are functional steins for his homebrew and artistic pots for his bonsai trees. Each piece requires creativity, patience, and an appreciation for the beauty in form and function.
